The Scrapbook direction in this video production is inspired by the “compartmentalized rectangles” section of the style guide. This creative concept uses multiple modular video elements that are added piece by piece, telling a story. These promotional videos utilize these “scrapbook” elements to seamlessly transition between highlight clips. The clips build, incorporating animated still photography (players roto’d out), elemental texture (bricks, palm trees) and branding. Each element that is added has its own unique movement and placement.
We coined the term “burst moments” to describe how we took the outline of the players to make them feel larger than life with a branded Tampa Bay Rays background, in order to highlight each baseball player. The scrapbook approach allowed us to incorporate elements of The Rays culture and surrounding area while still telling the story of the ray.
Our hometown team approached us for creative and branding videos for the 2022-2023 season. The goal of the video creative in this post-production was to capture the Rays brand and gets fans excited about certain matchups and giveaways. We decided to go with burst moments as a way to showcase all the elements that make the Rays who they are as an organization.
